How to Make a Zoom Call: A Comprehensive Guide for Seniors

  1. Go to www.zoom.us
  2. Click the orange “Sign Up, It’s Free” button in the top right corner
  3. Enter your email address and click “Sign Up”
  4. Check your email for a confirmation message from Zoom
  5. Click the “Activate Account” button in the email
  6. Follow the prompts to create your password and complete your account setup

Making a Zoom Call

Step 1: Open Zoom

  1. Find the Zoom icon on your computer desktop (it looks like a white video camera on a blue background)
  2. Double-click the icon to open Zoom

Step 2: Start a New Meeting

  1. Click the orange “New Meeting” button
  2. A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to join with computer audio – click “Join with Computer Audio”

  1. Find the microphone icon in the bottom-left corner
  2. Click it to mute (red line will appear) or unmute (no red line)

  1. Click the “Chat” button in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen
